Toastmasters International is dedicated to assisting individual members in their personal development through the arts of listening, thinking and speaking.

To make the most of this opportunity, come to meetings and give apologies when you cannot. Participate and offer your enthusiasm, other members will be encouraged by your interest. Give the same support that you would like to receive. Show appreciation and applaud when appropriate.

Toastmasters is a self-help program, where you learn by participation. As the great Roman statesman Cicero said: "the skill to do comes from doing." Don't wait for the VPE to schedule you, volunteer for a role or to give a prepared speech. Other members want you to succeed and will be supportive.
