When You Are Business Session Evaluator
The purpose of this duty is to offer constructive feedback regarding
the business segment of the meeting only. No prior preparation for this
assignment is necessary (but have these notes with you as a check-list!)
As Business Session Evaluator you should comment on the following (if
considered relevant):
- Meeting opening -
- Was it organised?
- Did the Chairman convey a sense of welcome?
- Were guests properly introduced and made welcome?
- Program changes -
- Was the Toastmaster in control of the situation?
- Secretary -
- Was correspondence dealt with efficiently?
- Were there any problems with the minutes?
- Reports -
- Did the committee members presenting reports convey a sense of efficiency and action?
- Your general impression of the session as a whole. Did it have “life”? What was the level of participation by members – general or dominated by a few?
- The performance of the Chairman. Was he/she in control – move the meeting along – run overtime – handle effectively any ‘motions’ and parliamentary procedure?
- Add positive suggestions to help newer members to become involved in future business sessions. eg. move motions.
- Was the session enjoyable for all or just a "dead" period?
